It is difficult to read the newspaper these days without seeing an article about the recent rash of recalls involving products made in China that contain lead. First came the recall of 1.5 million Thomas & Friends™ toy trains and sets coated with lead paint then multiple recalls totaling nearly a million Mattel toys which were also made with lead paint.
These recalls should make consumers carefully consider the safety of the products they purchase—including their fences and railings. Products that are being produced outside of the United States, particularly in China, are repeatedly being found to contain lead paint. Although the parent companies in the United States say that they mandate that their foreign manufacturing facilities only use paint from approved suppliers, lead based paint continues to be found on products manufactured overseas and sold in the U.S. It stands to reason that the lack of control over the production of a product can easily result in the lack of control of the quality and safety of a product.
Nebraska Plastics feels that consumers should not have to worry about harmful lead in the products they buy. That is why we are proud to say that our American-made aluminum products have no lead added to the aluminum alloy and they are powder coated with lead free paint. When it comes to the decisions we make about the manufacturing of our products, the safety of our customers comes first.
